Burn The Patriarchy, Not Your Interior!

Did you know that common items like water bottles, crystals, and other light refractors can cause a fire in your vehicle? We learned this from experience (don't worry, we're alive and well). Just like a magnifying glass, certain materials can refract light into a pinpoint, which concentrates the heat of the sun on one specific spot in your car. If that material gets too hot from this concentrated ray, it can burn your car's interior or even start a fire! Here are a few examples of light refractors you may have in your car right now:

Clear water bottles
Mason Jars
Crystals & Gemstones

Glasses and lenses
Glass air fresheners
Oil diffusers
|
|
|
|
So, what should you do with this information? Honestly, not much. Make sure you don't leave your crystal trinkets in direct sunlight when parking outside or try to avoid parking towards the sun when possible. This applies at all times of the year, although it may not seem hot enough to cause danger in the winter, it's still possible.
